Building for
the future.
WG Davies’ MAN Truck & Bus Cardiff extension
WORK IN PROGRESS
There’s a lot happening at WG Davies in Cardiff, and our team has been there to document it. From the crane lifts to the new steelwork, this is a chance to follow a building as it takes shape.
At the Newlands Road depot in Wentloog Corporate Park, the workshop extension marks the next chapter for a business with deep roots in South Wales. Our aerial photographs show the scale of the work, while the closer views pick out the people, machinery and details behind it.
A new space for Cardiff
The new building is planned to include a rolling road and a load simulator. They form part of the investment in the Cardiff workshop and its future vehicle-testing facilities. The project is still ongoing, so we’ll be following its progress rather than presenting it as a finished facility.
Our coverage combines drone filming, photography, time-lapse and ground footage. The photographs already on our site capture the construction stage; the finished film will follow as the wider project develops.

WG Davies traces its beginnings to 1927, when William John Davies started WJ Davies as a transport business serving Swansea Docks. In 1949, he bought WG Davies (Landore) Ltd and ran it as a haulage business with his sons John and Vivian.
The ERF franchise arrived in 1986, later becoming a dual MAN ERF franchise in 2002. The business expanded into Tenby through the purchase of Lewis & Edwards in 1998, and took over the Cardiff and Bridgend operations from MAN in 2004. Today, its three depots are Cardiff, Swansea and Tenby.
That history gives the Cardiff build some context: a family business continuing to invest in the facilities behind its commercial vehicle work.
